DOOMYOGA

Kamellia Sara is an Egyptian-Irish interdisciplinary artist and founder of Doomyoga, a sonic ritual practice emerging from underground music culture. Founded in 2015, Doomyoga combines experimental sound, spatial listening and movement to create immersive sonic experiences that transform drone, ambient and heavy music into collective ritual. Her work moves between composition, performance and installation, exploring sound as a physical, spatial and collective experience.

For over a decade, Kamellia has developed a distinct approach to experiencing music through the body, pioneering the intersection of underground music, yogic practice and deep listening before their convergence entered the cultural mainstream. Doomyoga strips away sensory stimulus and distraction to heighten the experience of sound, allowing music to be encountered in its most elemental form — through vibration, space and the body.

Kamellia creates original compositions and live works across drone, doom, ambient, electronic and experimental music, bringing together voice, sound, physical presence and spatial experience. Moving between solo composition and collaboration, each work develops in response to its particular architecture, acoustics, context and audience.

Her artistic practice is informed by a longstanding personal engagement with yoga, philosophy and the study of sound. She has trained extensively in traditional yogic practice, alongside gong and sound therapy, with Nada Yoga — the ancient practice of exploring consciousness through sound and listening — becoming a particular influence on her work. Rather than treating these traditions as separate disciplines, Kamellia draws on this knowledge as part of a wider artistic language concerned with attention, perception, vibration and the relationship between sound and the body.

Conceived from an initial philosophical idea through to its sonic and performative form, her work exists between live performance, installation and ritual. Whether presented in a church, gallery, festival or unconventional public space, sound and site become inseparable, creating an experience that is both individual and collective.

Do.omyoga merch, designed by Kamellia, extends Doomyoga philosophy into the visual and material realm. Its cult longsleeves draw from the raw aesthetics of punk, grunge, thrash, black metal, rave, skate and surf culture — the subcultures that shaped Kamellia’s formative years growing up in the 90s. Infused with yogic philosophy, each garment is a wearable act of activism: a visual statement that fuses underground music’s rebellious spirit with the inner journey of self-awareness and transformation. More than clothing, it is cultural ritual reimagined, blending individual expression with collective awakening.

Doomyoga has presented work internationally across festivals, galleries, cultural institutions, radio and independent spaces including Dark Mofo, ICA London, 180 The Strand, Supersonic Festival, Supernormal Festival, Centre for Contemporary Photography Melbourne, Ace Hotel London, Foundation FM, NTS Radio and Devon Ojas Listening Room.

Her collaborators include Stephen O’Malley, One Leg One Eye, Iggor Cavalera, Laima Layton, NYX Electronic Drone Choir, Agathe Max, The Seer and Ayn Søf, with forthcoming collaborations including Witch Club Satan.

Alongside her performance work, Kamellia holds intimate Doomyoga sessions in London, bringing together yoga, meditation, deep listening and gong. She is also available for commissions, brand activations, cultural projects and creative collaborations.
