MOON MEDITATIONS : NEW MOON
Service Description
Moon meditations are practices that align with the phases of the moon, especially the new moon and full moon, which have profound energetic significance in many spiritual traditions, including yoga. These meditations help practitioners connect with the lunar cycle, which is believed to influence emotions, energy levels, and spiritual practices. New Moon: Historically, the new moon symbolizes new beginnings. It’s the start of the lunar cycle, and in yoga, practitioners used this time to set intentions, plant seeds of spiritual growth, and meditate on their goals and desires. This was often a time for inward reflection and manifesting new projects, hopes, or changes. New Moon: Historically, the new moon symbolizes new beginnings. This was often a time for inward reflection and manifesting new projects, hopes, or changes. New Moons are a time for setting intentions and sowing the seeds of what we want to bring into our lives. Moon meditations have long been an integral part of yoga, especially in Tantric and Hatha Yoga traditions, which emphasize the energetic influences of the moon on human consciousness and body. The moon is seen as a symbol of Shakti (feminine energy), representing the subconscious mind, emotions, intuition, and cycles of change. The ancient yogis recognised the moon’s influence on water, tides, and consequently, the human body, which is composed largely of water. They believed that lunar phases affected not only nature but also the mind, emotions, and energy systems within the body. In yogic tradition, Chandra (the moon) is associated with the Ida Nadi which governs the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for rest, relaxation, and emotional balance. Moon meditations are a reminder of the ancient wisdom that humans are deeply connected to the cosmos, and by aligning our practices with natural cycles, we can achieve greater balance, awareness, and peace.
